"Received by a distinguished american couple, James and Annelle Murray, in New Zealand where James Murray, had been stationed during WWII. James was an interesting character and major figure in the early USA Space Program as Executive Director of the National Space Club and the Goddard Trophy. James' connection with New Zealand and the Rocking Horse was that during WWII he was the stationed there as the 1st Mate on a conscripted yacht called the USS Norab. The United States conscripted the ship from the famous Hollywood Mogul Baron Long. USS Norab was immortalized by General MacAurthur as his personal floating headquarters while in Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines. Because of its powerful engines and speed, Norab was later converted into a troop evacuation ship that could outrun any enemy ship in the theatre. James returned to New Zealand many times after the war and became friends with the owners of the Relko Rocking Horse Company that had emigrated from their native UK in the 1970s. It is unclear with their connection was but family members believe the owners of Relko somehow crossed paths with James during the war and possibly on one his his troop evacuation missions. James and Annelle had the Rocking Horse either commissioned or gifted to them (not clear from the documentation) in 1982 as a remembrance."
